Quick Summary: SkillsDB analytics surfaces skills data, training completion, and assessment progress in one platform. Admins have full access to all analytics areas; managers can access team-level reporting for their direct reports and organizational hierarchy.

Overview

SkillsDB provides a suite of built-in analytics and reporting tools that help administrators and managers make data-driven decisions about workforce development. Rather than exporting raw data and building reports manually, SkillsDB surfaces key workforce metrics directly within the platform — from individual skill grades to organization-wide training completion. Analytics in SkillsDB are organized across four primary areas: Skills Matrix Analytics, Assessment Completion Reports, Team Training Analytics, and Trainer Metrics. Each area targets a different dimension of workforce capability and can be filtered, customized, and exported to Excel. Administrators have access to all analytics areas. Managers can access team-level analytics for their direct reports and organizational hierarchy. Standard employees cannot access team analytics — they see only their own profile data. All analytics data is based on your organization’s configured grading scale and career structure. Skill grades, benchmarks, and performance thresholds are set by your account administrators and may vary from the examples shown in this article.

Prerequisites

Before accessing analytics, you need:
  • Permission level: Administrator role for full analytics access; Manager role for team-level analytics
  • Setup requirement: At least one career configured in Company > Careers (for Skills Matrix Analytics)
  • Setup requirement: At least one assessment launched (for Assessment Completion Reports)
  • Setup requirement: Library Roles must be enabled in your organization settings for Skills Matrix Analytics to be available

Skills Matrix Analytics

The Skills Matrix is SkillsDB’s primary analytics tool for understanding skill proficiency across a career or role. It shows every person assigned to a career alongside their grades for each skill in that role, making it easy to spot proficiency gaps, high performers, and training needs at a glance. The Skills Matrix supports six display views, allowing you to switch between tabular data and visual chart formats without leaving the page. Administrators can access the Skills Matrix for any career. Managers cannot access the Skills Matrix analytics unless they also hold an Administrator role.

Accessing the Skills Matrix

  1. Navigate to Company > Careers
  2. Select the career you want to analyze
  3. Select Skills Matrix
The page title displays as Analytics / [Career Name]. The Skills Matrix table view loads by default.

Choosing a display view

The Skills Matrix page supports six display views. Select Display in the top-right navigation area to open the view options panel.

Filtering Skills Matrix data

The Skills Matrix includes filters to narrow data by organizational structure and performance criteria. Organizational filters (available across all views):
  • People — Filter by individual name
  • Department — Filter by department
  • Division — Filter by division
  • Region — Filter by region
Performance filters (available in the Skills Matrix and Bar Chart views via the Display drawer):
FilterShows

Exceeds TargetPeople whose grade is above the career benchmark
Below TargetPeople whose grade is below the career benchmark
UnassignedPeople who have not received a grade for a skill
Skill flag filters (available in the Skills Flag view):
  • Filter by Mentor, Expert, Focus, or Interest flags to see only flagged skills
Filters apply immediately and update the table or chart in real time. Combine multiple filters to narrow the data further.
Tip: Use the Below Target performance filter to quickly identify skill gaps within a role. Combine it with the Department filter to see which departments are most affected.

Exporting Skills Matrix data

All Skills Matrix views can be exported to Excel. The export includes all visible rows and columns in the currently selected view.

Assessment Completion Reports

Assessment Completion Reports show the real-time status of a manager or employee assessment across your organization. Use these reports to track who has completed an assessment, who is still in progress, and who has not yet started — without contacting each manager individually. Assessment reports are available for both manager assessments and employee assessments. Administrators can view reports for all assessments. Managers can view completion reports for assessments within their team scope.

Accessing an assessment report

  1. Navigate to Company > Assessments
  2. Select the assessment you want to report on
  3. Select View Report
The page title displays as [Assessment Type] Assessment: [Assessment Name] — for example, Manager Assessment: Q1 Skills Review.

Team Training Analytics

Team Training Analytics gives managers and administrators a view of training activity across a team or organizational group. The training analytics section includes two views — All Activity and Training Matrix — and is accessible directly from the sidebar. Administrators can view training data for all people in the organization. Managers can view training data for their direct reports and organizational hierarchy.

Accessing Team Training Analytics

  1. Navigate to Team > Training
The page loads with the All Activity view selected by default. Use the view selector at the top of the page to switch between All Activity and Training Matrix. Tabs available in both views:
  • Direct Reports — Shows only the current user’s direct reports (default)
  • My Org — Shows the full organizational hierarchy beneath the current user, including all nested reports

All Activity view

The All Activity view displays a chronological log of training assignments and completions for your team. Each row represents a single training record for one person. Columns available:
ColumnDescription
Employee nameTeam member’s name with avatar
Training nameName of the training resource or course
Assigned dateDate the training was assigned
Completion dateDate the training was marked complete
TrainerName of the assigned trainer, if applicable
StatusCurrent training status
Duration (hours)Logged training duration
AttachmentsNumber of attachments on the training record
Select the Column Chooser button in the top-right navigation area to show or hide specific columns.

Training Matrix view

The Training Matrix view displays training information in a matrix format. People appear as rows and skills appear as columns. Each cell shows the training date for that person and skill combination, making it straightforward to identify which team members have been trained on which skills and where gaps exist. To switch to the Training Matrix view:
  1. Navigate to Team > Training
  2. Select Training Matrix from the view selector at the top of the page
Note: Cells showing N/A indicate the skill is not assigned to that person’s role. Empty cells indicate the skill is assigned but training has not yet been recorded.

Exporting training data

Both training views support Excel export.
  1. Select the Direct Reports or My Org tab as needed
  2. Apply any additional filters
  3. Select Export from the top navigation area
  4. A .xlsx file downloads automatically
All Activity exports use the filename format: All_Training_Activity_[YYYY-MM-DD].xlsx

Trainer Metrics

Trainer Metrics provides aggregated statistics about training activity by trainer across your organization. Administrators use this view to understand training volumes per trainer, monitor trainer activity, and identify trends in how training is being delivered.

Accessing Trainer Metrics

Administrators can access Trainer Metrics from the manage section:
  1. Navigate to Company > People > Trainer Metrics
Managers with trainer responsibilities can access their own trainer metrics from the people section:
  1. Navigate to People > Trainer Metrics

Common Questions

Administrators can access all analytics areas: Skills Matrix for all careers, Assessment Completion Reports for all assessments, Team Training Analytics for all people, and Trainer Metrics. Managers can access Team Training Analytics and Assessment Completion Reports within their team scope (direct reports and My Org). Managers cannot access the Skills Matrix analytics for careers unless they also hold the Administrator role. Standard employees cannot access any team analytics. Employees see only their own profile data, including their personal skills profile and training history.
The Skills Matrix requires Library Roles to be enabled in your organization settings. If a career does not display a Skills Matrix option, confirm that Library Roles is enabled. Additionally, at least one person must be assigned to the career for the analytics view to display data. Contact your SkillsDB administrator if you believe the Skills Matrix should be accessible for a specific career.
“Meets Target” compares each person’s recorded skill grade against the benchmark grade configured for that career. A person “Meets Target” when their grade equals the benchmark. “Exceeds Target” means the grade is above the benchmark; “Below Target” means below the benchmark. Benchmark grades are configured by your account administrators as part of career setup and may use a 1–5 scale or another grading scale depending on your organization’s configuration.
No. Assessment Completion Reports display data for one assessment at a time. To compare completion rates across multiple assessments, export each report separately to Excel and combine the data manually.
Direct Reports shows only the people who report directly to you — your immediate team members. My Org shows your full organizational hierarchy, including your direct reports and all employees who report to your direct reports, continuing down the org chart. Administrators selecting My Org see all people in the organization.
SkillsDB does not currently support saved or shared links to filtered analytics views. To share a specific view of the data, apply the filters you need, export the data to Excel, and share the exported file with your colleague.
Yes, when in the Skills Matrix table view. Use the Manager / Employee tab toggle (available via the Display panel) to switch between manager-submitted grades and employee self-assessment grades. Selecting a single tab shows only that grade type; the default view shows manager grades.
