What happened

The resource id in the URL resolved to nothing your key is entitled to see. A person named in a request body or query field who does not exist is not a 404 — it is a 400 with code unknown_person on that field.

Likely causes

  • The resource was deleted.
  • The id was copied from another environment or another company.
  • A sub-resource id (a level, section, or skill id) belongs to a different career than the one in the URL.

What to do

Re-list the parent collection to obtain current ids. Treat ids as opaque strings and never construct them.
